Mohawk & Shaw Announce Price Increases

Chattanooga, TN, October 9, 2018-The first week of October, both Shaw and Mohawk announced price increases.

Mohawk enacted a 5% to 8% increase on all residential carpet products, effective on orders and shipments December 3. Mohawk cites unanticipated raw material, employment and transportation inflation as cause for the increase.

Shaw is increasing select residential soft surface product pricing by 4% to 8% on orders November 5 and shipments November 26; freight for soft surface will be increased by $0.03, effective January 1, 2019.

On hard surface products, Shaw has announced a 7% price increase on those not imported from China and a 10% increase on those that are imported from China. The company notes that if tariffs increase to 25% as stated by the U.S. Trade Representative, it will pass along an additional 7% increase on all hard surface products as of January 1, 2019.

These follow Engineered Floors’ announcement of a residential carpet increase the last week of September.
