Mohawk Expands Thomasville, North Carolina Laminate Production

Thomasville, NC, August 30, 2021-Mohawk recently expanded its laminate production in Thomasville, North Carolina for the fifth time, adding 275,000 square feet of manufacturing space.

The expansion included the addition of 50 positions.

In the Q2 conference call, Mohawk reported that its laminate sales are growing, and, as such, it is adding capacity. A portion of this growth is being driven by the supply chain (container price escalation) issues and tariffs affecting imports in both laminate and competing categories.

According to a September 2021 article by NC Commerce, the company will invest $87 million and the expansion will create 87 new jobs.

The company has operated in North Carolina for 20 years, and the expansion will bring Mohawk’s total workforce in North Carolina to almost 1,000 team members over the next three years.
