Mohawk Announces Freight Rate Increase

Calhoun, GA, September 23, 2026—Mohawk has announced a freight rate increase, effective September 28. 

The company said, “As you are aware, volatility in domestic and global markets throughout 2026 has significantly affected freight and logistics costs while placing continued pressure on supply-chain reliability. Rising diesel prices, reductions in global refining capacity related to conflicts involving Ukraine and Iran, tightening trucking capacity, increased carrier expenses, and higher ocean-container rates have created sustained cost pressures that extend well beyond routine market fluctuations and are expected to persist well into 2027.

“Global inflation, transportation constraints, and persistent shortages of shipping capacity, materials, and equipment continue to drive freight costs higher. At the same time, disruptions to refining capacity and refined-product availability have contributed to a 65% increase in diesel pricing in the past year, and an increase of 20% in domestic freight expenditures, creating significant and sustained cost pressure across the transportation network.

“Mohawk has worked diligently to mitigate these pressures by optimizing routes and our carrier network, renegotiating contracts, and absorbing costs wherever possible. However, the scale and duration of these conditions require us to adjust certain freight rates.

“Effective with shipments on September 28, 2026, Mohawk will implement the following increases:

Broadloom Final-Mile Delivery: Mohawk has maintained broadloom delivery rates without adjustment for several years despite substantial increases in transportation costs. Rates will increase by up to $0.10 per square yard, depending on the route.

Hard-Surface Delivery: To partially offset continued inflation in delivery and service costs, drop fees will increase by up to $25 per shipment.

Carpet Tile Delivery: Rates will increase by up to $0.25 per square yard, bringing these charges closer in line with current market pricing and the cost to serve.”
