Mohawk Acquires Wayn-Tex

Augusta, GA, February 4--The Augusta Free Press reported this morning that Mohawk Industries has acquired Wayn-Tex. Wayn-Tex, a 44-year-old company, produces primary carpet backings and manufactures a variety of composite woven/nonwoven backings for specialty applications. The company is headquartered in Waynesboro, Virginia and operates manufacturing facilities in Waynesboro and Hillsville, Virginia, it employs 550. Detail of the transaction were not disclosed. The newspaper quoted Mohawk chairman and CEO Jeff Lorberbaum as saying "Wayn-Tex has been a major supplier of carpet backing to Mohawk. They have earned a reputation as a solid manufacturing organization for quality, service and value. We look forward to welcoming their employees into the Mohawk family and becoming a part of these communities."
