Michael Goldberg, Chairman of RiteRug Flooring, Has Died
Columbus, OH, December 10, 2025-Michael Goldberg, 78, chairman of RiteRug Flooring, died December 10.
RiteRug was founded by brothers Duke and Stanley Goldberg in 1934.
In 1962, Duke’s son Michael began working in the business at the age of 15. Michael, an Army veteran, became the sole owner of the business in 1989, following Duke’s death.
Michael’s son, Mickey, stepped in as chief operating officer in 2008. And Michael transitioned to a chairman of the board role in 2023. Mickey, CEO, will now lead the company as chairman of the board.
According to Floor Focus estimates, RiteRug is the 13th largest flooring retail operation in the U.S. with estimated sales of $348 million.
The company currently has 59 total locations, including 17 retail locations and outlet stores, and operates in the residential retail, commercial, builder and property management markets. The company has locations in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.
