Louisiana-Pacific Schedules Downtime At Five Mills

Portland, OR, Dec. 11--Louisiana-Pacific Corp. plans to temporarily reduce operations at five of its North America oriented strandboard mills in order to perform capital projects and maintenance activities. In a press release Wednesday, Louisiana-Pacific said the 41 days of downtime will occur in December and early January, reducing normal production by 50 million square feet. The maintenance is part of the building-materials company's $250 million investment to modernize its mills over a four to five-year period. Louisiana-Pacific said it has delayed the maintenance because of the strong building season. The affected mills are in Sagola, Mich.; Swan Valley, Manitoba; Chambord, Quebec; St. Michel, Quebec; and Carthage, Texas. Louisiana-Pacific made a similar move earlier this year when it cut production at eight OSB mills between June 1 and July 15.
