Landmark Ceramics Cuts Ribbon on $70M Plant Expansion
Mt. Pleasant, TN, March 25, 2024-Landmark Ceramics cut the ribbon on a $70 million plant expansion March 22. In addition to a new kiln that increases the plant’s annual production capacity to 80 million square feet, the investment is creating a North American logistics hub for the Gruppo Concorde-owned company.
Beyond the increased capacity, Landmark CEO Filippo Sgarbi believes the enhanced flexibility and service the upgrades offer will be key to future growth.
The warehouse-which now comprises 650,000 square feet of covered space and 24 loading docks-is being automated to streamline operations. Automated guided vehicles (AGVs) and manned forklifts outfitted with GPS navigation deliver and retrieve products with the aid of a state-of-the-art management system that tracks products’ every movement and determines the most efficient location for both storage and packing, communicating in real time with personnel and automated equipment. The warehouse upgrades are expected to be complete by the end of the year.
Gruppo Concorde managing director Federico Curioni said the project underscores the company’s belief in the domestic ceramic tile market and the opportunity for domestic manufacturers to grow share. Production at the 96-acre site in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee began in mid-2016.
