Labor Productivity Increased 2.3% in Q2

Washington, DC, September 5, 2019-Nonfarm business sector labor productivity increased 2.3% in Q2 2019, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports, as output increased 1.9% and hours worked decreased 0.4%. 

From Q2 2018 to Q2 2019, productivity increased 1.8%, reflecting a 2.6% increase in output and a 0.9% increase in hours worked. The four-quarter increase in hours is the lowest estimate since the second quarter of 2010 

Unit labor costs in the nonfarm business sector increased 2.6% in Q2 2019, and 

increased 2.6% over the last four quarters.
