July Manufactured Goods Orders Rose for 3rd Consecutive Month
Washington, DC, September 5, 2019-New orders for manufactured goods in July, up two consecutive months, increased $6.9 billion or 1.4% to $500.3 billion, the U.S. Census Bureau reported. This followed a 0.5% June increase.
Shipments, down following two consecutive monthly increases, decreased $0.9 billion or 0.2% to $504.0 billion. This followed a 0.1% June increase.
Unfilled orders, up following three consecutive monthly decreases, increased $0.6 billion or virtually unchanged to $1,161.5 billion. This followed a 0.6% June decrease.
The unfilled orders‐to‐shipments ratio was 6.67, up from 6.55 in June.
Inventories, up ten of the last eleven months, increased $1.2 billion or 0.2% to $696.5 billion. This followed a 0.1% June increase. The inventories‐to‐shipments ratio was 1.38, unchanged from June.
