Julian Dossche Provides Update on Flooring Tariffs

Chattanooga, TN, August 5, 2026—Julian Dossche, president of International Flooring Company (IFC), provided an update on tariffs during his FloorDaily interview.

After the Supreme Court deemed the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) tariffs illegal, the administration instituted a new set of tariffs under Section 122 of the Trade Act of 1974.

This tariff set a 10% tariff on all products coming into the U.S., including flooring, and had a 150-day window, which closed last week.

Following that, the administration implemented a Section 301 tariff, which is not new, as it has been used since 2018 to tariff Chinese imports. That rate is 12.5%, which means that the rate has increased by 2.5% over the last two weeks.
