Job Openings Virtually Flat in July at 7.3 Million

Washington, DC, September 1, 2026—The number of job openings was little changed at 7.3 million in July, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported. 

Hires and total separations both changed little at 5.1 million. Within separations, quits (3.1 million) and layoffs and discharges (1.7 million) were little changed.
