INSTALL Will Promote Quality Installation At Surfa

St. Louis, MO, Jan.6--More than 3,000 architects, designers, facility managers and others who write specifications for construction projects are expected to attend Surfaces 2004, the floorcovering industry's largest exhibition and conference in North America. INSTALL (the International Standards and Training Alliance) will also be at Surfaces to give specifiers a personalized learning opportunity about the importance of specifying the type of professional who installs a design. INSTALL, at Booth #7348, will cater to specifiers at Surfaces with the theme "Specify Quality. Specify INSTALL." A video presentation, sample specification language, information about continuing education opportunities, and one-on-one meetings will be offered to specifiers visiting the booth. "An INSTALL professional's goals and those of a specifier mirror one another," said Jim Schmid, international director of INSTALL. "Both insist that work is done with attention to detail, that no corners are cut, and that the end result is what the design and specifications demand. We believe Surfaces is a great venue for presenting the INSTALL message to this important segment of the construction community." INSTALL is steered by a 14-member labor-management committee created by the United Brotherhood of Carpenters. With 20 major mills and manufacturers as alliance members, it is the most comprehensive training program in North America. Experts from these mills and manufacturers develop the INSTALL curriculum, so that INSTALL professionals are trained to implement any specification or design.
