INSTALL to Offer KoolGlide Certification Program

St. Louis, MO, April 14--The INSTALL program said it has become the first to offer floor covering professionals an opportunity to receive training leading to certification of the KoolGlide Carpet Seaming System with Sinch Technology. KoolGlide is a patented carpet seaming system that is easier to use than hot irons and that allows 100 percent reversible repairs. The system approaches carpet seaming from the top of the carpet, resulting in a significant savings in material and labor. Nexicor, the manufacturer of KoolGlide, teamed with the United Brotherhood of Carpenters’ International Standards and Training Alliance (INSTALL), to create a training curriculum on the use of the KoolGlide. The program - launched today in St. Louis - includes hands-on instruction that stresses proper use for installation, environmental friendliness, and health and safety awareness. A full class of apprentices from the United Brotherhood of Carpenters underwent the training. Passing hands-on and written testing will result in a KoolGlide certification from Nexicor. The training and certification program occurred at the INSTALL St. Louis Training Center. Nexicor also donated ten KoolGlide units for use at the Carpenters International Training Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. These units will be allocated to INSTALL’s regional training centers for use during their scheduled KoolGlide training and certification classes. “We’re honored that Nexicor chose INSTALL to launch its certification program,” said Jim Schmid, INSTALL’s director. “This new curriculum fits perfectly with our commitment to continuously advance the skills and safety awareness of our professionals, so that they remain knowledgeable about evolving installation methods.” KoolGlide has received endorsements by several major carpet manufacturers who are actively implementing the seaming system in their training classes. Participants in these classes report the ability to create quality seams that are produced by seaming on top of the carpet without the usual excess heat, odor and smoke. Since there is no direct contact between the seam tape and the KoolGlide, there is no build up of burnt thermoplastic caking on the unit or adhesive strings smeared on surrounding surfaces.
