Initial Jobless Claims Rose to 261,000 in Week Ending June 3

Washington, DC, June 8, 2023-In the week ending June 3, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 261,000, an increase of 28,000 from the previous week's revised level, according to the Department of Labor. 

This is the highest level for initial claims since October 30, 2021 when it was 264,000. 

The previous week's level was revised up by 1,000 from 232,000 to 233,000. The four-week moving average was 237,250, an increase of 7,500 from the previous week's revised average. The previous week's average was revised up by 250 from 229,500 to 229,750.
