Initial Jobless Claims Declined by 9,000 in Week Ending Dec. 28

Washington, DC, January 2, 2025-In the week ending December 28, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 211,000, a decrease of 9,000 from the previous week’s revised level, according to the Department of Labor. 

The previous week’s level was revised up by 1,000 from 219,000 to 220,000. The 4-week moving average was 223,250, a decrease of 3,500 from the previous week’s revised average. The previous week’s average was revised up by 250 from 226,500 to 226,750.
