Hurricane Helene Caused $213M in Damage to NC Forests
Washington, DC, November 22, 2024-The North Carolina Forest Service reported that Hurricane Helene caused more than $213 million of damage to western North Carolina forests across more than 800,000 acres and in 17 counties, according to the Decorative Hardwoods Association.
Hardwoods like oak, maple, birch, and poplar suffered more damage than conifers.
