House Prices Edge Higher in July

Washington, DC, Sept. 23, 2014 -- The Federal Housing Finance Agency said that U.S. home prices rose 0.1% in July from June.

It was the smallest month-over-month gain this year. Economists were looking for a an increase of 0.4%.

Compared with July 2013, the house price index has increased 4.4%.

For the past year, gains have been greatest in the Pacific states, up 7.2%, and the least in the Middle Atlantic states, which are up 1.6%.
