Home Depot's Comp Store Sales in U.S. Up 3% in Q1

Atlanta, GA, May 21, 2019-The Home Depot reported a 5.7% sales increase YOY for Q1 2019. 

Comparable sales for Q1 2019 rose 2.5%, and comparable sales in the U.S. were up 3.0%. 

Net earnings for Q1 2019 were $2.5 billion, compared with net earnings of $2.4 billion in Q1 2018.

"We were pleased with the underlying performance of the core business despite unfavorable weather in February and significant deflation in lumber prices compared to a year ago," said Craig Menear, chairman, CEO and president.

At the end of the first quarter, the company operated a total of 2,289 retail stores in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, ten Canadian provinces and Mexico.
