FloorMax Acquires Next Day Floors & Carpet Fair Commercial

Baltimore, MD, December 3, 2024-Carpet N' Things, Inc. d/b/a FloorMax has announced its strategic acquisition of Carpet Fair, which includes Next Day Floors and Carpet Fair Commercial.

This merger was driven by Joshua Williams, who, as co-CEO of the combined enterprise, plans to steer the company’s expansion to be a dominant force in the flooring industry along the East Coast. Williams has a wide range of finance and operational leadership experience in multiple sectors ranging from media and music, real estate development, and strategic investments.

Williams, a principal with Banksmore, a real estate investment firm focused on the multifamily sector, bought FloorMax in December of 2023. FloorMax is a brand that has operated in the Washington DC metro area since 1985. Today, the company has showrooms in Columbia/Elkridge, Laurel, Germantown and Silver Spring along with a 40,000-square-foot warehouse/distribution center in Laurel. The company is strategically diversified in the commercial and residential markets.

In November, the company made its second acquisition of Carpet Fair Inc, headquartered in Baltimore, Maryland. Carpet Fair’s residential business is branded Next Day Floors and its commercial business goes by Carpet Fair Commercial flooring. Carpet Fair was owned by Jeff Helman, and the commercial division is run by Steve Plunkert. Carpet Fair was a founding member of the NFA but is no longer part of that group. Carpet Fair commercial is a member of Starnet.

Krista Eliason, a flooring industry veteran, will serve as co-CEO. She has worked for Next Day Floors for more than five years.

The acquisition brings expanded operational capabilities and firmly strengthens the company’s leadership in the shop-at-home channel, a model that has become essential in today’s market, while expanding the market presence through Washington, D.C. and northern Virginia. With this team's expertise, the companies will advance customer experience by using AI technology to drive lead generation, streamline processes, and enhance customer interactions.
