Cincinnati, OH, Nov. 1--Federated Department Stores has made an agreement to develop a new Bloomingdale's home and furniture store in Oakbrook Center, west of Chicago. This will be the third of its kind for Bloomingdale's, following the recent introduction of a similar free standing home store concept in Las Vegas and the upcoming February opening of the Medinah store in downtown Chicago.
The new Bloomingdale's store will include 90,000 square feet of retail space on three levels, space currently occupied by Saks Fifth Avenue. The store will be completely remodeled, beginning in February, to create a modern environment offering a complete selection of home merchandise, including tabletop, housewares, rugs, furniture and food, presented in unique lifestyle settings. The Oakbrook Center store, which will be Bloomingdale's fourth store in the market, is scheduled to open next fall.
