FCEF Announces Tech College Pilot Program & New Board Member

Dalton, GA, January 4, 2022- The Floor Covering Education Foundation (FCEF) has announced a new program created in partnership with International Certified Flooring Installers Association, the National Wood Flooring Association and the Ceramic Tile Education Foundation for technical colleges.

The pilot program will start January 10 in Dalton, Georgia at the Georgia Northwestern Technical College. The program will begin a new pathway of awareness and training for future generations to enter our industry as craftsmen/women.

The Basic Floor Covering Installation program was created to introduce students to carpet, resilient, hardwood and tile installation. It is a ten-week program.

In addition, FCEF has announced that Hoy Lanning of JJ Haines will be joining its board of directors.

Lanning announced his retirement from JJ Haines last year and has been working over the past year to facilitate a smooth transition. With his retirement date nearly here, Lanning is looking forward to using his wealth of experience in the flooring industry to help guide the FCEF.

Lanning will take on this new role effective immediately and will begin advising the FCEF team. He will join his first in-person board meeting this spring.

The FCEF board of directors consists of representatives from manufacturers, retailers and industry organizations to provide a wide range of perspectives to solving an industry-wide issue-the shortage of qualified installation craftsmen.
