Face of Hagopian World of Rugs Dies


Birmingham, MI, March 30, 2011 — Edgar Hagopian, the face of Hagopian World of Rugs and Cleaning Services, a business founded by his father, died Sunday at the age of 80.

The businessman, philanthropist and political activist was well-known throughout southeastern Michigan for his television advertisements for the 72-year-old family business.

Born in Detroit in 1930, Hagopian worked as a teen in his father Harry Hagopian’s chemistry laboratory, which originally made cosmetics and perfumes before becoming known for its rug cleaning products when carpeting became popular in the 1950s.
