Daughter Of Dalton Carpet Retailer Killed By Snipe
Dalton, GA, August 2--The 26-year-old daughter of Dalton carpet retailer Buddy Parker was killed by a sniper early Monday morning as she slept in her father's house.
Authorities said Tara Swilley was shot in the head from about 150 yards away while she was stayed in the bed of her father, the owner of Parker's Carpet. Parker at the time was vacationing on the Georgia coast.
According to reports, the victim's husband, Winston and the couple’s seven month old daughter, Jordan were also in the bedroom at the time of the shooting.
Two children of the victim's sister were also at the house.
Authorities said they found shell casings about 150 yards away.
As of early Monday evening, according to Whitfield County Sheriff Scott Chitwood, no suspects had been identified.
The Parker family has offered a $25,000 reward.
