Corporate Floors Becomes Public Benefit Corporation
Dallas, Texas, June 11, 2019-Corporate Floors Inc., a commercial flooring installation and maintenance company, has become a public benefit corporation (PBC).
In doing so, Corporate Floors has joined a growing number of innovative companies, including Kickstarter, Plum Organics and Patagonia, that have officially declared their commitment to the greater social good.
As stated in its newly amended legal documents, Corporate Floors will continue to invest its profits in the three main components of the company’s social mission:
- Advancing environmental sustainability initiatives through waste reduction and innovations in carpet and post-construction recycling.
- Advancing and fostering external initiatives or organizations providing professional development assistance to women in the facilities and property management industry.
- Advancing and fostering opportunities for employees and the communities in which they work.
Public benefit corporations are relatively new legal structures. Currently 34 states have passed benefit corporation legislation, starting with Maryland back in 2010. Texas began allowing businesses to incorporate as public benefit corporations in 2017.
