Consumer Confidence Higher Than Expected

New York, NY, Aug. 27, 2013 — U.S. consumer confidence increased to 81.5 in August from 81 the prior month, according to private research group the Conference Board.

Economists expected a reading of 79.

The expectations index rose to 88.7 from a revised 86.0 the previous month.
