Columbia Flooring to Expand Danville Plant

Danville, VA, August 2— Columbia Flooring is expanding its facility in Danville, Virginia. The $13.5 million expansion will eventually add 200 jobs there. Columbia Flooring is headquartered in Danville and has manufacturing operations in Virginia, Arkansas, Georgia, Tennessee and West Virginia. It's a wholly owned subsidiary of Columbia Forest Products, and the firm makes and sells hardwood and laminate flooring. Columbia president David Wootton calls the engineered hardwood flooring plant in Danville "an example of operational excellence throughout the entire corporation." The news is good for Southside, where some localities have seen unemployment in double digits over recent years.
