Columbia Acquires Millwood Specialty Flooring

Danville, VA, Sept. 16--Columbia Flooring today announced that it has completed the purchase of Millwood Specialty Flooring Inc., a manufacturer of unfinished 3/4" solid hardwood flooring, located in Ellijay, GA. The purchase price was not disclosed. "We have known Millwood for some time and it has always been apparent it would be a good fit for Columbia Flooring," said Columbia president David Wootton. "Millwood is an excellent manufacturer with a well deserved reputation for quality and customer service. This acquisition will enable us to expand the geography from where we acquire our raw materials, and allow us to increase the volume of unfinished strip available for finishing at our other facilities." Columbia plans to increase the size of Millwood's current lumberyard and lumber-drying facilities. "In the past ten years Millwood has grown from a very small operation to a multi-shift facility with a consistently full order book," Millwood owner and president Preston Millet said. "It is logical a company of Columbia Flooring's standing should want to acquire our plant, and we are convinced that with our management team and Columbia's guidance Millwood will continue to flourish." Mike Millard will continue to run the Millwood operation and Preston Millet will leave the company to focus on his distribution company, Millwood Flooring, located in Knoxville, TN, which will now distribute Columbia's line of hardwood flooring products.
