Plynyl, its novel brand of woven vinyl floor surface, has been expanded to include the in-demand tiles. The collection was officially introduced in June at 2005 NeoCon.
Extraordinarily versatile, Plynyl Tiles, like the original w2w Plynyl, has the richness and texture of fabric but is far more durable and simpler to maintain. It is the result of two years of development at Chilewich, representing the combination of its unique woven vinyl fabric with a state of the art vinyl backing system.
Increating Plynyl Tiles, the woven vinyl fabric face has, in fact, been reengineered to ensure that tile edges stay sharp and clean. The backing features a two-layered vinyl cushion plus an intermediary non-woven stabilizing layer. All told, it's a design with the dimensional stability and durability required for commercial-rated tiles.
The Basketweave pattern, a Chilewich signature style, is being used for the tiles and is offered in eight color ways: Caramel, Holly, Jade, Mocha, Russet, Rattan, Slate and Terra. Tiles are 18-inch squares, and can be installed either in uniform configuration or, for more adventurous and dynamic visual effects, in a random placement.
Because it is entirely vinyl, Plynyl Tiles are recyclable and include 20% recyclable content.
The introduction of Plynyl Tiles follows the recent launch of Solid Shag, the latest evolution in Plynyl Shag floor coverings from Chilewich.
When it originally was introduced last year, Plynyl Shag was available in an arra of striped combinations. Now, solid colors join the assortment-a logical additior that can coordinate with the stripes or be used independently. The solid palette includes black, gunmetal and lime; the stripe offering is white/black; silver/black; citron/black; blue/green; fuchsia/orange; and, multi.
Plynyl Shag is a reinterpretation of the dramatic texture of shag carpets. The vinyl yarns are looped in a tufted construction, authentically imitating conventional shag; but the outcome using this new generation of material is far wittier and sassier.
It's a fashionable look coupled with uncompromising performance, owing to its all vinyl construction. The backing is a combination of a non-woven primary with a solid vinyl backing that reduces yaqrn pullout. Plynyl Shag installs easily, seams-well and requires minimal maintenance.
