Ceramic Tile Imports Declined 5.2% YOY in First 9 Months of 2024

New York, NY, November 15, 2024-In the first nine months of the year, total U.S. imports of ceramic tile were 134 million square meters, a decline of 5.2% from the same period in 2023 when imports were 141.5 million square meters, according to Grosser Consulting. 

The decrease was due to the decline in imports from Mexico (-15.0%), Brazil (-27.4), Turkey (-22.4) and Spain (-2.2%). Imports from India were up by 3.3%, from Italy were up 0.8%, and from Vietnam were up 48.2%.

Imports in square meters were as follows: India is in first place with 29.1 million square meters, followed by Spain (24.4 million square meters), Italy (21.3 million square meters), Mexico (20.3 million square meters), Brazil (9.9 million square meters), Turkey (9.6 million square meters) and Vietnam (6.7 million square meters). Total Imports were 134.1 million square meters (-5.2%).

Imports in dollars were as follows: Italy is in first place with $433 million (-3.8%), followed by Spain ($371, -0.3%), Mexico ($187m, -8.9%), India ($150m, +6.5%), Turkey ($79m, -28%), Brazil ($69m, -26%) and Vietnam ($44m, +44%). The value of total imports was $1.479 million (-4%).
