Ceramic Imports Declined 8.2% YOY in 2023
New York, NY, February 12, 2024-In 2023, total U.S. imports of ceramic were 185.7 million square meters, a decline of 8.2% from the year 2022 when imports were 202.3 million square meters, according to Grosser Consulting. This decrease was due to the declines in imports from Spain (-19.2%), Italy (-20.5%), Turkey (-35.1%), Brazil (-18.3%) and Mexico (-7.7%).
Imports from India were up 42.6%.
Imports in square meters were as follows: India is in first place with 37.6 million square meters, followed by Spain (32.4 million square meters), Mexico (31.1 million square meters), Italy (27.8 million square meters), Brazil (17.2 million square meters) and Turkey (16.1 million square meters).
Imports in dollars were as follows: Italy is in first place with $588 million ($701 million in 2022), followed by Spain ($482 million; $545 million in 2022)), Mexico ($270 million; $250 million in 2022), India ($191 million; $150 million in 2022), Turkey ($139 million; $199 million in 2022) and Brazil ($120 million; $136 million in 2022). Total dollar imports were down by 8.4% from $2.201 million to $2.017 million.
