Bob Harman, Founder of Richmond Carpet Mills, Has Died

Chattanooga, TN, January 29, 2019-James (Bob) Robert Harman, 86, founder of Richmond Carpet Mills, died January 22.

Harman was from LaGrange, Georgia and started his career in the flooring industry with Callaway Mills in 1953. 

He went on to work at Philadelphia Carpets, Croft Carpets and Heritage Carpet before founding Richmond Carpet Mills in 1969. He sold the business to Blue Ridge Carpet in 2000.

Harman is survived by his wife of 61 years, Merlene, as well as daughter Vicki Armor and son Mark Harman, who is currently director of product for J+J Flooring Group.
