BASF Declares Force Majeure on Polyamide

Freeport, TX, March 1, 2024-Due to unprecedented complications impacting operations in its polyamide production, BASF is not able to supply required volumes of materials necessary to meet market demand. As a result of this unavoidable and unforeseen circumstance, BASF has no alternative but to declare Force Majeure on low viscosity polyamide products and place them on sales allocation in North America, with immediate effect. Details of customers specific allocated volume will be provided to them by their BASF account manager contact.

Currently, we are not able to predict exactly how long the Force Majeure declared by BASF or our resulting sales allocation will last. BASF account managers will be in contact with customers to discuss the status of current and future orders, as well as keep them up to date as the situation continues to develop. Sales allocations and timing of delivery are subject to change due to the dynamic market conditions.

The company is taking every reasonable action to identify mitigation measures for the constraints it is experiencing within its supply chain.

Polyamide is used in the production of carpet fiber.
