Annual Rent Increases Outpace General Inflation

Washington, DC, June 19, 2015 — Annual rent increases are running well ahead of general inflation trends, according to the Labor Department.

Rents in May were up 3.5% from a year ago, while overall consumer prices were flat, the U.S. Labor Department reported.

Rent inflation has been rising faster than overall inflation for three years.
