Winter Show Preview: A peek at the 2019 flooring products in two premier shows - Jan 2019
By Jessica York
This winter, there will be two national flooring shows, Surfaces and Domotex USA. Surfaces, part of The International Surfaces Event (TISE), will take place January 22 to the 25 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. Domotex’s inaugural U.S. show, Domotex USA, will take place February 28 through March 2 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, Georgia.
Surfaces, this year, will cover over 180,000 square feet, with about 700 exhibitors already signed up by late December to show their products. The Ignite education sessions begin on January 22. Informa Exhibitions has streamlined the education offerings into three paths: “Suits” has a business focus, “Hammer + Nails” is aimed at installers and “Creatives” targets the A&D community. Floor Focus/FloorDaily will sponsor the Design & Installation Hub, which will highlight what’s new and on-trend in design installation and products.
Hannover Fairs’ Domotex show is expected to host over 200 exhibitors in over 90,000 square feet of space. The show is attracting an almost 50/50 blend of international versus domestic exhibitors. The location for the show was chosen strategically due to its proximity to Dalton, where plant tours of Shaw, Engineered Floors, Dixie Group and Beauflor will be offered. Domotex USA will also offer education sessions that will focus on topics such as key issues for retailers, labor issues, digital marketing and the Millennial demographic.
