StarNet Member Wins Toyota Prius

Ridgefield, CT, February 10, 200--StarNet Commercial Flooring Cooperative, the largest member-owned cooperative of independent, commercial floor covering contractors in North America, announces the winner of a recent membership promotion. Craig Roberts of Potomac Floor Covering, headquartered in Dulles, VA, won a Toyota Prius through a contest for StarNet members, made available by Gerbert Ltd. and ECOsurfaces Commercial Flooring. Lori Dowling, president and CEO of StarNet, said, “StarNet members are able to offer customers benefits from the industry’s best products, technologies and service providers. As a result, we’re thrilled when the efforts of our membership are rewarded. We offer congratulations to Craig on his winning sales performance and thanks to our vendor partner, Gerbert Ltd., distributors of ECOsurfaces, for making it happen.” “I can’t begin to say how excited I am to have won the Prius! My thanks to all of those involved for generously making this offer. Being awarded a prize like this is a shot in the arm,” said winner Craig Roberts of Potomac Floor Covering. He continued, “It’s a privilege and honor to be part of StarNet. The organization offers so much to its membership--a forum to exchange ideas, sales training and cooperative use of equipment, just to name a few. The bottom line is that our customers need to be happy with their finished installation. This is a peer group of successful entrepreneurs, and their ideas and advice continue to help us serve our customers in the most forward-thinking way.” Roberts' industry experience began during his high school and college years, first as an assistant installer, then, in retail sales. He spent several years as a contract estimator, working on both tract housing projects and large commercial installations. He has been with Potomac Floor Covering for eight years, working first as an estimator and returning to commercial sales in 2005. Potomac’s mission is to position themselves as partners with their customers. Since 1986, the company has continually provided quality products, outstanding installation and superior customer service throughout the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. As well as being a StarNet member, Potomac’s president and CEO, Jim Creamer, also serves on StarNet’s board of directors. Andrew Dodge, president of Gerbert Ltd., distributors of ECOsurfaces Commercial Flooring, said, “StarNet’s an outstanding organization and we appreciate every opportunity we have to work with them. And Craig is a most deserving winner, so we were pleased to reward him with a Prius.” Coincidentally, Roberts appreciates both classic and unique cars. He already owns a 1959 Corvette, and had just completed a purchase on a Toyota Prius earlier in 2005. He plans to keep his winning car, which will feature a special StarNet vanity plate. Early in 1992, independent commercial flooring dealers recognized their resources could be strengthened through a national network combining their individual capabilities. This basic concept grew into the StarNet Commercial Flooring Cooperative which, with more than 145 independent contractors doing business in 230 of the top markets across North America, is the most professional, service-driven, commercial floor covering entity in existence today. Working closely with the leading floor covering manufacturers, StarNet has been able to reduce the costs related to doing business and create a combined annual volume of well over one billion dollars.
