Pergo Signs License Agreement with Malaysian Floor

Trelleborg, Sweden, December 1-- Pergo has signed a license agreement with Robina, a leading laminate flooring company in Asia, regarding production rights for Pergo’s technology SmartLock. The agreement with Robina will create new income for Pergo. Also the settlement with Unilin, which was communicated on November 9, will have a positive effect on earnings. For 2004 the effect of both agreements is believed to amount to approximately SEK 15 M ($2.2M). For 2005, Pergo believes the positive effect can amount to 30 M ($4.4M). The signing of a license agreement with Robina has been made possible thanks to the settlement that Pergo reached with the Unilin, solving their mutual patent issues and acknowledinge each other’s patent rights for glue-free joints. Through the agreement, Robina has been given the rights to produce laminate flooring with Pergo’s click-joint system SmartLock. The licence agreement is valid until further notice. Robina is an industrial group working within the wood processing field in China and Malaysia. The group’s business includes manufacturing and sales of MDF (medium density fiberboard), engineered wood and laminate flooring.
