LG Hausys Enters Residential Resilient Market

Atlanta, GA, Aug. 27, 2009--LG Hausys Floors, the resilient floorcovering division of LG Hausys America, Inc., has entered the residential flooring market and hired industry veteran Curt Robinson to direct the business.

Robinson served as a special consultant to LG Hausys Floors during the research phase of the residential launch, and began his official duties as the new vice president of residential business for LG Hausys America, Inc. on Aug. 17.

Robinson has spent the last 11 years serving as national sales manager and general manager of residential contract business with Mannington and Armstrong, respectively.

Under the direction of LG Hausys America, Inc. president Simon Hong, and executive vice president of flooring Dave Thoresen, the decision to enter the residential flooring segment was recognized as the next logical step to establish the LG flooring brand in the North American marketplace.

For the last decade, LG Hausys Floors has been manufacturing commercial LVT, EVT and resilient sheet flooring options, and will now transfer that technology and innovation to the residential sector.

"Curt (Robinson) offered his expertise to LG Hausys Floors over the past eight months to help us better understand the residential flooring segment," said Thoresen.

"After researching the opportunity to enter this channel, and reviewing the initial products he developed to differentiate LG flooring in the mainstreet commercial segments, we felt he was the appropriate person to direct the business."

LG Hausys Floors has established a distribution model, flooring contractor, and retail network for its new LVT residential offerings. The first introduction will be Deco Essential & Advantage LVT, wood and stone looks designed in America and specifically engineered for the residential contract market.
