Baugh of Stifel Discusses How '17 Is Following the Trends of '16

St. Louis, MO, August 14, 2017-In today’s FloorDaily interview, John Baugh, managing director of Stifel, points out how the first half of 2017 looks much like 2016, “The category performances are somewhat similar. The hard surface business is still taking share from soft surface. LVT is growing. Overall numbers are grinding their way up. It looks like residential is slightly outpacing commercial. I would describe it as good, not great, not terrible.”

He continues, “Carpet is struggling to hold on. Some of the erosion seen in price per square yard was polyester coming on so strong at the expense of nylon. But there is a preference for some of the hard surface looks and some of the performance characteristics--like versatility and waterproofing--are a big deal.”
