Hal Long Named Shaw’s EVP of Operations

Dalton, GA, September 8, 2006--Hal Long has been named executive vice president of operations for Shaw. As EVPO, Long will have responsibility for all manufacturing, distribution, quality, logistics, research and development and sourcing functions. In conjunction with this transition from his previous role as vice president of Shaw’s commercial division, commercial manufacturing and research and development will move under the management of the operations team. “I feel fortunate to join our tremendous operations group and look forward to the challenges the future will bring,” Long said. Long joined Shaw in 1972 and has held numerous leadership positions. He is a native of Dalton, Ga. and holds a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from Georgia Tech and an MBA from Berry College. To fill Long’s position, Tim Baucom has been appointed to vice president of the commercial division with responsibility for both sales and marketing. Bob Chandler has been promoted to vice president of commercial sales. Chandler will oversee all Shaw commercial sales divisions, including Shaw Contract Group, Patcraft, Designweave, Shaw Hospitality, Design Origins, Shaw commercial hard surface and global accounts. Brenda Knowles has been promoted to vice president of marketing. Reporting to Baucom will be Chandler, Knowles, Dan Clark as vice president of Spectra, Steve Magel as manager of industrial fabrics, along with commercial leadership development, Six Sigma teams sales administration. “Hal has made a number of significant contributions to Shaw throughout his tenure,” said CEO Vance Bell. “We’re fortunate to have someone of his ability to fill this position. Tim, Bob and Brenda, are also great examples of the strong leadership bench that we have at Shaw.”
