Domotex Middle East to Host Carpet Design Awards

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, May 31, 2007--Deutsche Messe Dubai Branch (DMDB) - organizer of Domotex Middle East 2007, the region's only dedicated carpet and flooring industry trade show - showcases 11 winning hand-made carpets from the prestigious Carpet Design Awards 2007 in the Middle East for the very first time.

The partners in these awards, UK-based publisher, Centaur, with its magazines 'HALI' and 'Modern Carpets & Textiles' and Deutsche Messe, organiser of all Domotex events worldwide, created these awards to highlight and reward the remarkable talent and creativity of the hand-made carpet industry.

The competition, regarded as the benchmark for this industry and the perfect platform to showcase new trends and backed by the authoritative European Carpet Importers Association (EUCA), received over 140 entries from 15 countries. 10 of the winners were chosen by a panel of international industry experts at Domotex  HANNOVER, the world trade fair for carpets and floor coverings in January. The eleventh award represents the best liked carpet by Domotex Hannover visitors.

Representing everything from contemporary classics and Nomadic weaving with a modern twist to the Persian workshop tradition, the winning designs from Akhavan-Farshtchi Looms of Persia, Heidarian Carpet, Floor to Heaven, Pantelis Pashalidis, Zollanvari, m3 interior concepts, Ipek-Ipektchi, and Woven Legends will be on show exclusively in the Middle East at Domotex.

The Carpet Design Awards 2007 is just one of many new features introduced by the show organisers this year, which, according to Angela Schaschen, Managing Director (DMDB), will create a real 'buzz' on the show floor. 'We want to bring the floor to life this year and have combined a focused range of exhibits with more styles, trends, new products, exciting show features and content designed to engage the industry and make Domotex  Middle East an even more attractive business and educational experience for all. '

'In just one year, Domotex Middle East has grown in stature as the region's specialised flooring show and we anticipate unprecedented numbers of national and international buyers across all core product groups including: hand-made and machine-made carpets and rugs, textile floor coverings, resilient and outdoor floor coverings, wood, parquet and laminate, natural stone, ceramic tiles, fibres, yarns and textiles, laying skills, cleaning and application technologies,' added Schaschen.

The Carpet Design Awards 2007 display will be a central feature of Domotex Middle East 2007, which takes place at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre (DICEC) from June 11-13. Domotex has experienced continued growth since it's record breaking launch debut in 2006 as the biggest ever trade show launch in DICEC's history. The show, which has over 260 exhibitors from 36 countries and a host of new-to-market companies looking for regional business opportunities, is today ranked as the biggest event of its kind in the region.

Domotex Middle East 2007 is held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President, Department of Civil Aviation, Government of Dubai and Chairman of the Emirates Group. The show has the official support of the Government of Dubai Department of Economic Development, the UAE Contractors Association and the Association of Professional Interior Designers (APID) in the Gulf region.
