Domotex Middle East Announced by Deutsche Messe
Hannover, Germany, October 25, 2005--Deutsche Messe AG recently announced the launch of Domotex Middle East, scheduled for 28-30 May 2006 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.
The new tradeshow will serve the carpet and floor covering market in the Persian Gulf and -- behind Domotex asia/ChinaFloor in Shanghai, China -- marks the second international extension of the original Domotex, which takes place in Hannover, Germany. Stephan Ph. Kuehne, board member of Deutsche Messe AG, notes that there is no event in the region comparable to Domotex Middle East, adding "Following the success of Domotex Hannover and Domotex asia/ChinaFloor it is logical that we have selected Dubai as the next stage in the expansion of Domotex."
Dubai is the trade and business center of the entire Persian Gulf -- 75 percent of all goods imported to the region pass through the city -- and claims the world's largest artificial harbor and innumerable free trade zones. According to Deutsche Messe AG, Domotex Middle East was created to help companies new to the Persian Gulf -- comprised of the United Arab Emirates as well as Bahrain, Egypt, India, Iran, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi-Arabia and Syria -- take advantage of business opportunities in a market that experts predict will reach US$50 billion in property development between now and 2010.
Spectacular projects such as the manmade islands "The Palm" and "The World" off the coast of Dubai will be followed by the construction of numerous hotels, shopping malls and private housing. And foreigners -- who since 2002 have been permitted to purchase 99-year property leases -- are generating demand for more high-quality interior design, furnishings and floor coverings.
Deutsche Messe AG projects that Domotex Middle East will host 300 exhibiting companies on roughly 130,000 square feet of floor space, with products and services ranging from hand-woven and machine-made rugs and carpets; textile and resilient floor coverings; and parquet and wooden flooring to laminates; natural stone and marble flooring; ceramic tiles; and installation, maintenance and applications technology. The target audience will include professionals from the contracting, retail and wholesale sectors as well as architects, interior designers and decorators, project planners, property developers and buyers and skilled tradespeople such as carpet fitters.
Deutsche Messe AG is confident that Domotex Middle East will enjoy the same success as Domotex asia/ChinaFloor, which is already the biggest international carpets and floor coverings tradeshow in the East Asian marketplace. Since its Shanghai debut in 2002, floor space has tripled from 161,000 square feet to 495,000 square feet, with a further 25 percent increase expected in 2006. Domotex Hannover, which will run 14-17 January 2006 at the Hannover Fairgrounds in Hannover, Germany, is one of the world's leading tradeshows for carpets and floor coverings. Domotex 2005 featured 1,244 exhibiting companies on 90,142 square meters (969,928 square feet) of display area and attracted 43,855 attendees. More information is available at www.domotex.de.
