AccessBeaulieu Promises New Way of Doing Business
Dalton, GA, May 2, 2007--Beaulieu of America is making it faster, easier and more convenient for its dealers to order products and retrieve account information. The world’s largest privately–held carpet manufacturer has launched a new version of AccessBeaulieu.com, a dealer-exclusive website for order entry and account administration. The new site debuts after more than a year of work to revise the old site with new features and functionality.
According to Michael McAllister, VP, Marketing Information Systems, who directed the development of the new site, “We worked with a large group of dealers to ensure AccessBeaulieu.com would deliver the capabilities and functionality dealers wanted most. They consulted with everybody on the Beaulieu project team, which included top level executives and representatives from marketing, operations, customer service and accounting as well as IT.”
One of the primary characteristics of the site is how easy it is to use.
“We made that a priority in designing the site. If it’s not easy to understand and operate, it doesn’t matter how much functionality it has, because it won’t get used.”
AccessBeaulieu.com will “change the way we do business,” McAllister continued. “It has already changed the way we operate internally, the way we make and transport carpet and the way our plants communicate and control processes and capacities. Now it will revolutionize our forward integration.”
The new site is a complete overhaul of the original AccessBeaulieu.com, introduced in 1999. AccessBeaulieu.com builds on that commitment to technology, he said, but is more cognizant of how Beaulieu’s dealers want to do business today and significantly more user friendly. Eight years ago it was a quiet project with little urgency; today it’s a major initiative critical to our Senior Management and being managed daily by dozens of people in the Beaulieu organization.”
A top-of-mind initiative, Beaulieu management has assigned AccessBeaulieu.com a key role in the company’s future, McAllister said. “We consider AccessBeaulieu to be a constantly growing and evolving entity, adding new functions for the benefits of our customers and our internal personnel. Our customers expect information when it is important to them, not when it is convenient for us. Now they have it, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.”
“This is the beginning of a new way in which customers will interface with us. We believe we can be leaders on this front. Our customers stand to benefit tremendously by the Internet just as we have operationally in our manufacturing and inventory facilities.”
