New Single-Family Home Sales Declined 6.2% in April

Washington, DC, May 28, 2026—Sales of new single-family houses in April 2026 were at a seasonally-adjusted annual rate of 622,000, according to estimates released jointly by the U.S. Census Bureau and the Department of Housing and Urban Development, 6.2% below the March 2026 rate of 663,000 and 11.3% below the April 2025 rate of 701,000.

Orders for Durable Goods Rose 7.9% in April

Washington, DC, May 28, 2026—New orders for manufactured durable goods in April, up two consecutive months, increased $25.5 billion or 7.9% to $346.0 billion, the U.S. Census Bureau announced. This followed a 1.3% March increase.
