Federal Reserve Holds on Rates

Washington, DC, October 29, 2026—The Federal Reserve left rates unchanged yesterday.

In addition, committee chair Kevin Warsh announced that there would be fewer rate-setting meetings moving forward.

Starting in fall 2027, the central bank will reduce its tradition of eight annual rate-voting meetings by dedicating one meeting to broader economic strategy rather than rate votes (increasing to two strategy-focused meetings in 2028).
