Roy Allen Lewis Named Grand-Prize Winner of Inaugural Jim Walker Flooring Installer Award

Chattanooga, TN, September 9, 2026—Floor Focus, in partnership with Certified Flooring Installers (CFI), named Roy Allen Lewis the grand-prize winner of the inaugural Jim Walker Flooring Installer Award, created to recognize installers who embody the craftsmanship, professionalism and commitment to the trade that Walker championed throughout his career.

Lewis was selected from five finalists chosen from approximately 50 nominations. Joining him among the finalists are Roland Thompson of Thompson Flooring & Installation in Frederick, Maryland; WFCA master instructor David Garden; John Caine, wood-flooring professional with Integrity Floors in Tampa, Florida; and Jimmy Salisbury, founder and master installer of Blue Crew Installation in Westfield, Indiana. 

Roy “Allen” Lewis is a certified flooring installer based in Salem, Alabama, who serves customers throughout the Southeast and has demonstrated expertise across multiple flooring categories. Lewis is a three-time winner of TISE’s National Installer of the Year competition, an accomplishment that reflects the breadth of his installation skills. He is also a Floor Covering Education Foundation (FCEF)-certified instructor and participated in FCEF’s 2026 instructor-training clinic. 

Judges for the competition were Rod Von Busch, vice president of operations for CDI Floors, a commercial flooring contractor with operations in Kentucky and Indiana, and Typhannie Harker, president and owner of Carpeting by Mike.
