CARE Announces 5 New CA Drop-Off Sites & Awards 3 Grants in August

Sacramento, CA, August 18, 2026—In August, CARE welcomed five new drop-off sites in southern California:

  • Billy Wright Landfill, Los Banos, Merced County
  • Carpeteria Design Center, Lancaster, Los Angeles County
  • Guy’s Carpet, Fresno, Fresno County
  • Harry’s Carpets, Vacaville, Solano County
  • Metro Floors, Lancaster, Los Angeles County

CARE currently supports 178 public drop-off sites along with four semi-private sites.

In addition, CARE awarded Brightworks Sustainability a grant of $67,000 to complete phase 2 of its ongoing work on a “Considerations for Circularity” document. This document and supplementary tools will help guide industry stakeholders in designing for recyclability and complying with related legislation. The project will include an embodied carbon analysis of end-of-life pathways for carpet which will assist companies with carbon disclosure and reduction.

It also awarded Repurpose Earth a grant of $47,000 to test carpet tile cleaning equipment in its Northern and Southern California locations. The equipment is expected to result in a greater volume of reusable carpet tiles and reduced labor costs.

In addition, an award of $10,000 was made to Colusa County for infrastructure at Maxwell Transfer Station. This project will establish a new public drop-off site, increasing collections access in this rural county.
