Washington, DC, July 10, 2026–The 21st Century ROAD (Renewing Opportunity in the American Dream) to Housing Act will go into effect tonight. It passed with overwhelming bipartisan support (85-5 in the Senate and 358-32 in the House).
The bill aims to reduce house and rental costs by addressing the shortage in the market.
One of its core tenants is preventing large Wall Street Investors from buying up single-family starter homes.
It also speeds up homebuilding, encourages more housing supply, expands manufactured and modular housing, improves mortgage access and modernizes federal housing programs.
For companies that sell flooring, the act should increase single-family housing starts over the next several years, creating more demand for flooring, with suppliers serving manufactured housing and entry-level homes likely to be among the earliest beneficiaries.
