Rennes, France, June 30, 2026—Pointcarre has introduced a new computer-aided design (CAD) platform for the tufting industry, aiming to fill the void left by the shutdown of APSO more than two years ago.

Known for its CAD software for jacquard and dobby weaving, Pointcarre said it began developing the tufting solution after receiving inquiries from carpet manufacturers in 2024. Rather than adapting an existing platform, the company worked with tufting machine manufacturers and carpet producers to build a new system designed around current tufting workflows.
The software supports both broadloom carpet and carpet tile design and includes high-resolution yarn rendering, realistic surface simulation and streamlined design tools. The company said it has demonstrated the platform to several manufacturers, including Card-Monroe Corp. (CMC), and has begun implementing the software for its first customers.
To support the rollout, Pointcarre has hired Jeff Richardson as training specialist for the tufting sector.
The company also announced it has developed digital simulation capabilities for ColorPoint designs used on CMC equipment and is working on artificial intelligence tools for tufting design, which it plans to introduce at ITMA 2027 in Hanover, Germany.
