Gulistan Closing North Carolina Plant

Turnersburg, NC, Jan. 9, 2009–Gulistan Carpet will close its Turnersburg plant in Iredell County next month, according to the Statesville Record & Landmark.

Some 120 employees will be affected by the move.

The company cites weakened demand for carpet and the loss of a supplier for closing the facility.

Chief Financial Officer Peter Kruyer told the newspaper that workers who stay through February will receive severance packages.

Gulistan is based in Aberdeen, N.C.
