AmericasMart Teams Up With Atlanta Police

Atlanta, GA, May 11, 2007–AmericasMart Atlanta said it will team up with the Atlanta Police Department to open the department’s Zone Five Mini-Precinct at the corner of Andrew Young International Blvd. and Spring Street.

“The new Zone Five Mini-Precinct captures the spirit and momentum of a resurgent downtown newly energized and primed for continuing growth,” notes Jeffrey L. Portman, president and chief operating officer of AmericasMart parent AMC, Inc.

This Zone Five facility is a needed and natural response to the growth that surrounds us,” Portman added.

Atlanta Police Department (APD) operations began in the 7,000 square-foot facility in late March in advance of today’s official opening. The Mini-Precinct—led by Major Lane Hagin—is headquarters for the Zone Five’s more than 70 foot and bike patrol officers and serves as the command center for the APD’s Integrated Camera Surveillance program.  The Surveillance program facilitates the monitoring of more than one dozen new surveillance cameras in what is known as the “downtown tourist triangle.” AmericasMart Atlanta has enhanced its own state-of-the-art security system now featuring more than 50 additional surveillance cameras which surround the property.
